BEC Industries has developed several technologies for several material handling systems. These systems provide efficient cost-effective storage and retrieval of materials, greatly reduce the manpower needed for operations, and increase storage density freeing up valuable space for other critical operations. They also provide an accurate and reliable inventory management process.
GRID System
The revolutionary BEC GRID System uses an overhead transfer unit (TU) to pick up and sort containers within a high-density storage network. It has already been used on military ships to pre-stage containers for offload to another ship or pier, even while the ship is underway. BEC is also developing the GRID System for commercial applications, such as parking garages, marinas, and self-storage facilities.
3D Automated Guided Vehicle (3D-AGV)
BEC has developed a system capable of high rate, vertical-to-horizontal material movement on ships. The system is comprised of 3D-AGVs that travel horizontally and then seamlessly transition to vertical travel up a trunk or rack stowage system. 3D-AGV technology has many other potential commercial applications.
BEC Industries has successfully tested both of these technologies at sea onboard a Navy ship. We are continuing the Navy development work with a prototype system at our facilities in Tallahassee.
